Rescued dog bites NBC anchor in the face live newscast
It was supposed to be one of those feel-good segments on a local
television newscast: A rescued dog. A grateful owner. The hero
firefighter who pulled the dog from the ice.
But that's not how it
turned out.
The dog, an Argentine mastiff named Gladiator Maximus, attacked Kyle Dyer, anchorwoman at NBC's KUSA Denver affiliate, during a live, in-studio segment on Wednesday that was meant to celebrate the dog's rescue from an icy lake the day before.
Dyer was shown petting the mastiff during the segment, then kneeling on the floor to get closer, when the 85-pound pooch bit her in the face. Paramedics and animal control were called to the studio. Dyer was rushed to a Denver hospital where she had reconstructive surgery overnight. The 3-year-old dog was taken to a Denver animal shelter where it is being "quarantined."

This isn't Gladiator Maximus, but this is what he looks like. |
The video went viral and has been the buzz of almost everybody online.
& They pulled the videos down as fast as they could, but I went looking
and was able to find many, many, DUMB, fake and God only knows what the
heck some of these videos were I watched. They sure weren’t what they
said, they were. I sat through too many to count only to finally come
across the actual real video.
The reason I searched so hard and long wasn't, because I am sadistic and not cause I just wanted to see this women get her face bite off, far from it. I HATE seeing somebody get hurt, strangely I always feel pain when I see someone get hurt. My reason was, because I am a animal lover and I wanted to see if this was an aggressive dog or just a mistake on the part of the anchor women and after watching I have to say it was clear to me, it was the anchor women's fault. Now that being said, I still wish her the best and I hope she makes a full recovery. And I hope they take this opportunity to educate others, because they can save a lot of people from being bitten if they just tell where this went wrong
I was so scared they were going to put this dog down, and I wanted to search and find out what was going to happen to Gladiator Maximus I am happy to say, don't think they are putting him down, from what the shelter he is at said." The poor dog is in jail for something like 10 days, though and the owner has to pay a fine. They are fining him for not having the dog on a leash. Which I bet he had the leash laying near, I think he may of taken the leash off where he could have the dog even closer to him, because he was holding the dog by the collar. Not a good idea he could of kept the leash on and still held the dog by the collar, that way making it where he could of had a double hold on him. This would of NOT stopped this attack at all, but it may of helped in other situations.
The only fault I find with the owner is he should of told the women, to please back up and don't get in, Gladiator Maximus's face.
On the tape you can hear the dog growling, but this women keeps rubbing and rubbing his face all over, plus she is staring straight at him. That's not smart, at all! Dogs take staring them down as a threat, and since the dog clearly don't know this women, most likely even more so. She is talking nice, but it doesn't matter, animals talk with their body. You can clearly see the dog doesn't like her rubbing his face. I don't know if the owner can see this though, because what is going on is being blocked by the dogs huge size. The dogs back is to his owner, plus I am sure the guy may of been nervous being on live TV, just as the dog is nervous too. One sign I noticed the owner was nervous, he was continually rubbing the dogs ear, which could of also been bothering him.
And remember this dog just went through a big ordeal the day before. The dog fell through the ice and was rescued, I don't even know how long he was in there, because we never got to hear the story. Before we could hear it all hell broke loose, so ta speak.
Watch the video and see if you can see the signs this dog is giving.

These are some of the signs I seen the dog giving, before he bites her, but she ignored them. (1) I seen the dog pull his face back and he kind of turns to the side, she ignores it. (2) She still keeps rubbing his face over and over, and he starts to growl. (3) He starts staring straight in her eyes, that's a sign to back off. She ignores him and then she sticks her face right in his. And he nips her. There were three clear signs and I bet if I could see the whole body of, Gladiator Maximus the dog there most likely was another 1 or 2 signs he was giving her.
The problem for Gladiator Maximus the dog and Kyle the anchor women is that he is a 85lb dog which was breed to be a very powerful hunter that can take down prey weighing a few hundred pounds. He was also breed to be a loving family dog and most of them are very loyal loving family dogs, but if your a stranger you don't want to make this dog mad. Remember, I did just say they can take down a wild animal weighing almost 3 times their own body weight. If this would of been a small dog he would of done the same exact thing, as Gladiator did, but of course it most likely wouldn't of been as bad due to the size and strength in his mouth. What I mean is that this dog clearly was only giving her a warning if he wanted to attack her he most likely would of went for her neck. A huge dog has a huge mouth and very powerful teeth.
