Cornelia Walker Bailey’s Pear Bread
Southern Cakes
You may remember me saying I have a pear tree that is over-flowing with huge pears, and I needed to come up with some recipes to use them. With the rain they keep dropping on the ground and bugs eat holes in them right away.
I started looking for recipes and I came across this one on, "Slow Like Honey'
Which looked and sound like something I'd really like. It's more on the lines of a coffee cake, I like those type of cakes more one with icing.
I enjoyed reading the writers post before adding the recipe too. She is a very writer who keep your interest. She got the recipe from Leites Culinaria
Here are pictures I took of me making this bread.

| See All The Pears? These are hanging kind of low, but still to high for me to reach. |

| And these are way up in the tree! We'll have to get a latter out to get them. |
See the top picture that's just one branch hanging down full of pears and there are about 10 more just as full. And then all the ones above.
I wish I liked pears more then I do. I'll have to learn to like them since our tree is going crazy. We usually give away lots, we haven't given any away yet this year, mainly, because it's been raining so much that I've not see the neighbors for a couple weeks. I went looking for a website to trade produce, and I found one, but of course I was a day late and a dollar short. They had to close the site down, because something about people need a permit to trade food?? How crazy, I know it's some safety thing, but how sad is it that people like me with all these pears would love to trade some body with an abundance of another fruit or veggie.
If you happen to know any body or any site that trades, if you would like to trade please let me know leave me a message in the comments section and I'll get back to you.
Thank you! Oh, if you have a great pear recipe please give me that too. :)
